How should the prosthesis be cared for after bathing?
After use, it is recommended to rinse the prosthesis with clean water, especially after contact with sea water or chlorinated pool water. The product must then be dried, and the socket, liner and other elements should be cleaned regularly in accordance with the specialists’ recommendations.
Is it possible to get a bathing prosthesis free of charge?
If the legislation of Ukraine and the state program for the provision of technical rehabilitation aids provide for such a product for a particular patient, the specialists of the «Zdorovia» Center will help prepare the necessary documents, advise on the conditions for obtaining it and provide support at all stages of the paperwork.
How long does it take to manufacture a bathing prosthesis?
The manufacturing time depends on the level of amputation, the complexity of the design and the availability of the necessary components. After the consultation and examination, the specialists will provide an estimated time frame for manufacturing an individual prosthesis.
Can one prosthesis be used both for everyday life and for bathing?
Technically, some modern components allow contact with water, but for regular use in the shower, swimming pool or at the sea, specialists recommend having a separate waterproof prosthesis. This makes it possible to keep the main prosthesis in good condition, reduce wear on its components and significantly extend the product’s service life.
For which types of amputation are bathing prostheses made?
At the All-Ukrainian Center for Rehabilitation and Prosthetics «Zdorovia», bathing prostheses are made after foot, below-knee and above-knee amputation. The design of each product is developed individually, taking into account the level of amputation, the features of the residual limb and the patient’s needs.
