Modern leg protheses from the Center "Zdorovia"

Losing a leg is not a sentence leading to a sedentary lifestyle! People who use modern prosthetic legs not only walk like everyone else – they run marathons and even set records! In fact, a well-made prosthetic leg and proper rehabilitation and adaptation allow you to forget about the artificial limb. And people who do not know this fact will not be able to guess it at all by their gait or appearance.

FREE prothetics

According to the Procedure for Provision of Technical Rehabilitation Devices, approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on April 5, 2012, No. 321, any citizen of Ukraine is entitled to free provision of prosthetic and orthopedic devices (prosthetics and orthotics) if he or she has a referral for provision of technical and other rehabilitation devices.
Detailed instructions can be found on our website or you can clarify the details by phone

Of course, it is impossible to buy a prosthetic leg as an ordinary product – it is an artificial product that is made to meet the needs of a specific wearer and undergoes a long fitting procedure. Modern prostheses are based on a modular design developed in Germany in the 60s. It can be easily adjusted to synchronize the movement of the healthy leg and the prosthesis – this is achieved by changing the length of a special adjusting and connecting device. Thanks to this design, the mechanical leg prosthesis performs all the functions of the limb. It is controlled by the movements of the preserved part of the leg, which is why it is very important to select an individual fit and prosthesis fixation system.

We also offer cosmetic prostheses for legs. They imitate a healthy limb in appearance, but have some limitations in functionality. However, they still allow you to walk, and in some cases even run. They are often used as an initial option.

Leg protheses that we offer

For different needs and different levels of amputation, we can offer the following types of prostheses:

    • cosmetic – their main purpose is to improve the visual perception of the limb. Their main difference from other types is the lack of direct user control;
    • mechanical – the traction system is controlled by the tension of the user’s muscles and ligaments, so that the prosthesis partially imitates the movements of the leg.

The way we work

Our cooperation will begin with a detailed study of the medical record and questionnaire. Prosthetics technicians need to familiarize themselves with the circumstances and peculiarities of the amputation, the shape of the stump, and understand the degree of function preservation. It is one thing if only an ankle prosthesis is needed, and quite another if a femoral prosthesis is required for the leg, the degree of complexity of the work in this case is higher, because it is necessary to select the correct knee joint that carries heavy loads, as well as to adjust the fastening system.

The production of a prosthesis takes 15-20 days, depending on the complexity, sometimes some elements have to be specially ordered in Germany. When everything is ready, the fitting stage begins, to which great attention is paid – after all, the prosthesis should fit naturally, not rub and be easy to wear. There can be as many fittings as necessary to achieve the optimal result, and after each one, the necessary adjustments are made.

If necessary, we come to your home for a free fitting or provide transportation to transport you to our center.

After the prosthesis is fully adjusted in height and the residual limb is perfectly shaped, a rehabilitation therapist works with the patient to teach him how to handle and use the prosthesis.

Our center manufactures prosthetic legs exclusively on a free of charge basis under the state program introduced in 2012. According to the program, every citizen of Ukraine has the right to a free prosthesis, and to exercise this right, he or she applies to the social security authorities. Detailed instructions on how to use the program can be found on our website.
